Born in 1964 Kyrgystan, Temirbek Birnazarov is a graduate from the Almaty Institute of Theatre and Cinema. To this day, Birnazarov has directed multiple short documentaries and three feature films. The director often concentrates on social commentary and the depiction of the everyday life and struggles of the marginalised individuals living in segregated villages. His projects “Don’t Cry, Rhinoceros!” (1993) and “The Devil’s Bridge” (1996) won awards in Clermont-Ferrand film festival in France. The director’s latest film “Night Accident” (2017) was awarded Grand Prix at the 21st Talinn Black Nights Festival.
